Let Freedom Ring Must Reads
As the Senate Judiciary Committee today holds a hearing examining the proposed T-Mobile and Sprint merger, Let Freedom Ring, President Colin Hanna issued the following statement in support of the merger:
Expanding 5G technology nationwide is a mammoth project requiring enormous capital expenditures. It is also a necessary one, which is why combining Sprint and T-Mobile, the third and fourth largest carriers, to compete with the big two is in the public interest.
The proposed merger can widen geographic access, especially to rural areas, and eliminate dead zones and weak coverage areas.
Neither Sprint nor T-Mobile as separate entities could compete with Verizon and AT&T as effectively as they can if merged into one company, which is why competition in this area is needed to help level the playing the field.
